..*~One Year Ago Today~*..

*Dinner to Celebrate finding out your pregnant with twins: $80

*Setting up the nursery for two: $500

*Hospital bill totals for long inpatient stay and two babies: $400,000+

*Monthly Supply of Diapers and Formula: $150

*Knowing that you have two healthy & Vibrant babies: Priceless!

Today marks the One year anniversary of my inpatient stay. Hard to believe that One year ago I went into the hospital nervous as can be at 25 wks pregnant. I knew I would be in for the long haul and was hoping to get to that magic 32 wks gestation in order to give my babies the best possible chance at life. Saying goodbye to Chugo and Kata and my absolutely amazing husband was the hardest thing for me, But I knew that we were doing the right thing, the best thing for our unborn twins. I was blessed with an amazing team of nurses and was able to develop a bond with everyone. I am so glad its over, but looking back today, one year ago... I don't know how I did it. Thank you God for the gift you have given our family. These amazing sweet miracle babies have brought so much to our family.
We are truly blessed!!

The Poor Bus Saga Continues..

So my poor baby is now allergic to Amoxicillin-- Fabulous.
He developed a rash all over and luckily the home nurse was here for her visit so I was able to ask her what she thought.
It was either A: a viral rash or B: an allergic reaction.
I was pretty sure it was a reaction because once I gave him the meds within 10 mins he was red all over and blotchy. Called the doc's office and waited all afternoon for a call back only to hear that they wanted me back in the office for yet another visit. So in we go to find out that not only is he allergic to the meds; he doesn't even have an ear infection.
Baffling wouldn't you agree? Apparently his ears were pink when we were in the ER and then still pink in the docs office so they went ahead and prescribed meds. I guess trying to look on the bright side we now know he is allergic to Penicillin products. (Although we still have no idea what caused the high fever surge.) Guess it will remain a mystery.
So glad I pay so much for medical advice... *wink

(and that was soooo sarcasm just in case you were wondering!)

Wordless Wednesday

UPDATE:
Bus is doing great. Double ear infection, hence the fast spike in fever. (the ER wouldn't give meds they have a wait and see approach- whatever! Our doc gave it to us thank goodness and he is feeling much better. Not yet himself but better! Our doc also assured us that it is highly unlikely that he would ever have that type of seizure again. So that was good news!)

And now... Wordless Wednesday:

Bowls?!

Doors?!

Hot Baby...

It will soon be a year since I went inpatient with the twins. I have been an emotional wreck wrought with thoughts of the twins in the hospital and how things could have turned out. My nightmares peaked last night as my Bus was rushed to the Emergency Room via ambulance due to a seizure. I have never been so scared in my entire life. When the boys were in the NICU I was scared and worried but I knew that the doctors were highly trained and would do everything possible to help my babies. At home, not knowing what I was doing or why this was happening to him I panicked. His poor little body tightened and shaking and gasping for air his lips turned blue. I just remember telling him, "It's OK baby, Mommy is here, I love you, stay with me."

Minutes later the EMT's showed up and he calmed down.
He has been dealing with his top two teeth coming in and had a temp of 102. He was almost due for Tylenol and the Hub had gotten home just 20 minutes prior to the event. (Thank God) The older brothers were beside themselves crying. We haven't had people over to our house in forever and for the first time we had my brother in law, his gf and her friend over for dinner. (My SIL & MIL were also over so we had tons of people to watch the other three boys as the hub and I rushed to the hospital)

We got to the ER and they dosed him with Tylenol and Motrin and took some tests. Turns out it was a Febrile Seizure which is caused by a drastic change in body temperature in a short period of time, the body can't compensate for the heat fast enough and thus ends up seizing. They tell me it is common however I had never heard of it until now. Four kids.. and never had I had this happen to me before. Scared out of our wits we ended up having him sleep with us once we got home from the ER and of course checked on his brother every couple minutes as well.
I have never felt so helpless in my life. The doctors kept telling me that it effects kids from the ages of 6mos to 6yrs but rarely do kids have more than one episode. (rarely- hello! thats what they told me about having momo twins- so at this point I am not feeling so confident about my odds) He has continued to have a fever today. The Doctor felt that his high fever wasn't just due to the teething and perhaps he was getting a viral infection so we left armed with barely more information than when we arrived. We will check in with our doctor tomorrow to see if she can come to any other conclusion as to why we still have the 101 fever. :(
*sigh*

He is doing sleeping lots (in our arms) but is still uncomfortable. Please send prayers for our little one...

Montana... (Part Four)

The Carousel. Ice cream and fun for everyone. My Mom & Dad, and my sister and her bf & daughter all came with us for some circular fun! *wink
I don't think I need to say too much, the pictures speak for themselves....

Is was also the first time the twins got to try sorbet!

Montana... (Part Three)

We drove to Bozeman (I know more driving..Are we crazy?!) to go to the Museum of the Rockies. They had an exhibit on costumes which Kata was ecstatic about seeing as he dresses up in costumes practically everyday! The Museum is also the home base for Jack Horner and his Dinosaurs. (Another favorite of Kata's) Chugo was stoked to get out of the heat and into the cool Planetarium to view solar changes by season. (I really wanted to go in as well but alas someone had to stay out with the wee ones and change diapers and get them napping in the stroller.. Sigh.. a mother's work is never done and neither are her sacrifices! LOL)
Here are some photos from the day:

They even have a living farm, which for those of you who don't know what that is its people who work for the museum that "live" in the house during the day and use all the amenities available to them at the time. The boys couldn't believe that people could actually live without video games. (Or that the kids had to do so many chores EVERDAY!)

Montana... (Part Two)

We went to the Fair. Oh... the fair! Its the big Rodeo and carnival combined. Granted our kids had no desire whatsoever to see the Rodeo, they were all about the rides! They kept chatting about which ones they would be able to ride and all the good carnival food they could eat and who was going to pay for what. (believe it or not they were divvying costs up themselves seeing as they had been saving money for months in preparation for our trip. They assumed the only reason we were going to MT was to go to the fair! *wink) I think they pretty much ruptured my ear drums when I explained that Mom and Dad had the costs covered and they could spend there money on other things!
I missed the small town fairs, I didn't however, miss the carnies!

Kata & Chugo Jumping on the bungee cords! Both the older boys got a shot at it and had a blast- they even did front and back flips! (I almost had a heart attack watching!)

We even got both of them doing it on video!

Here is one of me waiting on line for the Tilt O Whirl with my best friends son, my sister's bf's daughter and Kata. We had a whirl of a good time! *wink

We all had a wonderful time riding on the rides and the boys even got their traditional ride on the ferris wheel with Papa! We never even made it home until well after midnight!
Needless to say this last photo speaks for itself!

Montana... (Part One)

Well this post is a wee late but better late than never!
We took a family vacation (Gasp! I know right?!) to visit my parents and sister in Montana. We knew that it was going to be a loooong drive with two little babies but we (well I mostly) decided it would be so worth it! The day before we left we picked up Chugo from Scout camp and on the way back home the twins screamed the entire time and I thought, there is NO possible way I am driving eleven hours listening to this! So the Hub and I came up with the brilliant idea of driving through the night. We gave ourselves a day to prep and left that very next night! The trip wasn't actually that bad at all! (well minus the squeezing our derrières into a small space (crack rather) in between the twins' car seats to soothe them back to sleep.) We were practically the only ones on the road and took our time. I recall coming over the Mountain pass into Montana while the sun was rising and being so glad we made the trip.

So I decided to mark this occasion in a couple posts as we did so much while we were there! I had lived there for 13 years and had never really done the touristy things so I was going to for sure finally get that done! I made a list of things I wanted to do while I was there and believe it or not we actually accomplished the entire list!! YAY US!

The first day we just really took it easy seeing as the hub and I had been driving the entire night before. My younger sister came over and we just chatted about what we all wanted to do and caught up on all the gossip! (I know.. me gossip right?! teehee) It was so wonderful to be there with her again! I miss her and being apart from my siblings during/after the year I had with the twins and the pregnancy was hard for me.

Moose and Bus had a fantastic time exploring Nana and Papa's house and left no nook or cranny unexplored!

(.....To be Continued)

Mama, Dada, PoopPoop Shawawa!

Its music to my ears! The twins are talking up a storm.. They started with BABA, (which we call the older boys Bubba- as in Brother.. Kata couldn't say brother it came out bubba and well, it sorta stuck) so Chugo seems to believe that the boys' first word was Brother. (its too cute that I might just continue to let him believe it.)
Then came Dada. And now, drum roll please...MAMA!
Whoohoo!
I always wait for it to pop out and while there are some occasions where I actually think they mean it towards me, I know that it is usually just babble and working out the sounds. (But like I said when they cry or want to be picked up there is a distinct Mom yell.)

Bus started it first but we also now say Nananana- which I would love to tell my Mother means Nana for her, but I am pretty sure that it means No. When we tell the boys No we say it sing song as nononono. I have caught both babies telling each other nanananana and I think the translation would be correct in saying, "Whoa, wait a minute. If you do that you are soooo going to get in trouble so you better cut it out now or I am telling Mom!" NO!

It still boggles my mind just how much they have grown and changed in a just a couple months time! *sigh*

Signs Of A Good Night..

Signs of a good night... A Cold Beer (with Orange slices), A berry Margarita, NACHOS!, a good movie and two baby bottles for two sleepy babies! We had a good time just relaxing as a family even though it was a wee bit hot in the house. Despite my fatigue (more like exhaustion!) I had fun. Then after the movie we watched some of the Olympics. Kata seems to think that he could do any sport at any time and just watching the sheer amazement on his face when the Mens Gymnastics came on was priceless.
He turned to me in awe and said.. "I *want* to do that!"
*sigh*
I love my boys!

...The seemingly endless battle of teething......

A late post as I drag my tired body to bed...

One word sums up today- TEETHING.
Yes Folks we are teething again. The fevers, the exploding poo diapers and the cranky poor babies who are just beside themselves upset. I feel for them I really do and I thank God that we only teeth once in our lives! (well it takes years but it really truly is only once.)
I wonder why I even bother thinking of sleeping as I know it will be another night filled with tears and writhing in pain. (on both our parts I am sure!)
Any Mom with children feels my pain- but a Mom of Twins cringes at the thought of feeling my pain. *wink

So.... until tomorrow...SIGH... I'm off to battle the night and like the trooper I am I know when dawn arrives I'll have survived this teething yet one more day!

Dare Me...

The Hub surprised me with a new phone.. he is so dreamy SIGH
My phone was on its last legs, the number 6 key kept getting stuck and almost popped out! I am glued to my cell 24/7 and now I can even browse the web..I'm connected everywhere! YAY ME! (Ok so enough bragging but I am so excited!) I am sure that one day I will end up some some form of brain cancer from all the bad things that cell phones emit but for now I am happy and stylin with my new phone!

Its a touch phone so the boys love it. I even downloaded super monkey ball and bejeweled and for some reason the older ones are more fascinated with my phone than they are with their fancy game systems. (Its a new toy I am sure the novelty will wear off soon.) You can also turn the phone sideways and text qwerty style which is like a regular keyboard (check me out using fancy nerd terms!) and it has one of the best cell phone cameras on the market! Did I already say Yay me? well... again... YAY ME!!

(P.S. Did I mention how many times my oldest has asked for my old one? He thinks that for some reason I am going to give him my phone so he has a cell too.. he is 10 what gave him the idea I would ever give him a cell at 10? Besides he never goes anywhere and he would he even call? He never even uses the home phone. Guess that his friends have one and now he wants one too.. Not going to happen.--->I'm a mean mom!)
