I made them hair clips last year. (yes, the link is to my company- never hurts to give yourself a little kudos eh?!)
So I scoured the net to find something fun, yet functional, and came up with lipgloss lockets!
HELLO! What girl would not love that?

Lip Gloss Lockets:

So I found this great little tutorial over at Beautylish. They said any locket would do so I set out to Hobby Lobby to see what I could find. Now while they have some great lockets and I was so excited- I noticed on all the locket packaging that they said "contains lead". As these were a gift for little girls I knew that anything with lead was NOT going to work. (especially seeing as it was going to have something put into it that would go onto their lips.) So I hit up two more stores with no luck. Then the light bulb went off- Etsy! Of course! Why hadn't I thought that to begin with! So to the computer I went and within 5 mins found exactly what I was looking for!

I gathered all my ingredients, which oddly enough I had all on hand! (you know when you buy stuff thinking- omg I am sooooo going to make all these things with this (like beeswax granules) and then never do- but you store it all for that 'one day'- Well luckily today was the day!)
Then I got to crafting!

I used some rub on decals that I found in with my scrapbooking supplies and then using some of my handy dandy E6000, I glued on the rhinestones and flower charms. I (also in my supply!) found some great silver chain and added some accent chain pieces to give the necklace a more decorative touch!
I guestimated on the length, but made sure that it would be long enough so that the girls could lift up the lockets and be able to see easily how to open the locket and get to the gloss!

Here is a shot of the cooled gloss inside the locket! I used a Q tip to clean up around the edges for any spills. I also want to note here that I decorated the lockets AFTER all the gloss had hardened back up. You want to make sure that the locket can lay as flat as possible when your filling it.
I am super impressed with how these turned out! To package up I used used some cute red paper jewelry boxes that I got from Hobby Lobby and tied it up with some Christmas ribbon! (You KNOW that I probably had tons of that laying around too! hehe)

And of course, had to post this picture of just one of the cutie patooties that received a gloss locket for Xmas. She loved it! (and I love her!)

Many Blessing and Happy Crafting!

He is so thoughtful and caring- and I knew that I had wanted to get him something special for Christmas. He is a drummer in a punk band (The Snubs) and loves jazz and classical musics as well. He also has a great beard! (usually untamed and very wiry!)
I searched and searched and then I came upon it, one of the perfect gifts..something unusual and musical and unique! A record bowl! I found this great tutorial at Ben Kling and set out to find supplies!

While on my thrifty hunt (cuz you know thats how I roll) I found two records, one was the war of 1812 and the other was a dean martin record. :) (I got two because what if I screwed it up? Better to be safe and have a backup right?! ;) )

Record Bowl:

The tutorial is pretty straight forward. I grabbed my metal mixing bowl (or as known in our house, the popcorn bowl) and turned on the oven. It really was super easy although did put a bit of a smell in the air. While Ben says that the record isn't too hot to work with- mine was! I didn't full on burn my fingers but it was quite hot to the touch and had to pinch, then wave my hands to cool then pinch again! It truly was such a fast process and it cools really quickly too. You just want to make sure that the base of the bowl stays flat or it will wobble once its cool. My brother love loved it! (And, he wasn't just saying that because he was a nice guy, because all my siblings told me that he raved to them about the bowl too!)
I know your asking yourself, well was that the first or the second bowl- lol- well I am happy to report that that was the first bowl attempt! I ended up just mailing him the war of 1812 album as well because the album cover was completely fantastic and would look fantastic framed on the wall! (But that will be a project for him to do himself!)

I also found this great tutorial for beard balm. One of my brothers favorite quotes/comments is "Calm your beard". He says this when everyone is all riled up and needs to settle down. So you know me- I labeled my finished product- the Calm your beard, beard balm!

I got all the ingredients from the Natural Grocers (well which ones I didn't already have on hand) and while she called for bourbon essential oil, i just used what I had on hand. (honestly I don't even know what the name of it is, but it was one of those where they mix up oils to find the perfect scent for you.) I also want to note that I put in less cocoa powder than they said, because well.. I didn't think my brother would want to smell like chocolate. (and let me tell you.. that raw cocoa DOES smell like that- but it is deliciously soft on your skin too!)
I found the the label guy online, he looks a bit like my brother so I thought it would work great, and just added the text type, printed on some card stock and then after it was out I ran it through my Xyron sticker maker. Done and done!

As always, Many Blessings and Happy Crafting!

Well that has been the last two months of the year. With four birthdays in October and then the holidays looming it was needless to say one busy season for this mama!
I decided this year to do a semi-homemade christmas! I planned my gifts out and made lists and prioritized. (I know.. ME... being so organized! I think I must have been possessed or something! haha) So now that the holidays are over I can finally reveal the gifts I made! (Originally I thought- oh man, wouldn't it be great to do a new post each week with a tutorial posting what I did, how I did it and the outcome- but alas- in my holiday rush, I was lucky to remember to have snapped a photo before I sent the gift out! What is it they say, Best laid plans?! So I will post a picture and just tell you my thoughts or any tips or tricks that I did. Wink)

The Quilt Project:
(I apologize in advance. The photos are not the best, it was overcast and dreary (and amazingly windy) the day I took the photos. (and i took them on my phone! Shhhh don't tell my Dad!) But as I stated above- I'm just happy I remembered to take a photo!)

As you know- I've been crazy into quilt making lately. As far as I am concerned, the gift of a warm blanket hug is the greatest gift ever! I set out to find a great (and easy) pattern to follow and thanks to Pinterest I found one I loved the one over at Thimbelina's blog.(Finally getting to try out all those bazillion pins that are sitting there on my boards)
Of course, in classic me fashion, I got overly excited about my cutting and ended up cutting too many of the charms so I had to rework the pattern but I think it turned out pretty good if i do say so myself!

Here's a shot of the backing and a little closer peek at the front.

And again, I just can't ever seem to leave things as they are so I found this great tutorial on adding a magic binding! (see that ting strip of printed fabric peeking out next to the pink- thats the magic binding!) I loved how it all came together and am looking forward to getting to make another quilt like this soon!

There is nothing sweeter than seeing your finished product get used! This poor little honey was sick at Xmas but loved snuggling up with her new Quilt.

Many blessings and Happy crafting!

The Disasters of Seam Ripping.Mom's aren't suppose to get sick! I'm just saying.
Thursday night, after years of just sitting in a closet I decided to rip the seams out of a band blanket that I had made for Chugo. It was in the beginning of my "learning to sew" days and now that I am, well, more seasoned, it was time to rip it out and start over. It took a while to do and of course, could i find my seam ripper anywhere? Nope. small sewing scissors? nope. So i resorted to my jewelry nippers, hey, they have a sharp point and truth be told- they worked great! That is, until I got two ripped blisters on my fingers. Curses! But as usual- I persevered until the job was complete.
Fast forward to Saturday morning and I awoke to one of said fingers swollen like a sausage and purple. and man did it HURT! The front of my hand also had red lines tracing my veins up my hand to my wrist. I did the smart thing and drew a line where it ended and told myself that if the redness went beyond that line, I would go see the doctor.
By mid afternoon... it had still not crossed the line but my elbow hurt really bad and had a big red patch on it and my shoulder was sore. Yeah.. I know.. I should have just gone in that morning. (But- isn't there always a but? There was an escaped convict from the hospital that morning and police were everywhere, I was just being diligent and staying away from the area so I didn't put myself into a possible hostage situation! haha)

Cellulitis. (I thought that was just the fat layer in my your skin.) So I was like- seriously.. your calling me fat? But then I realized that was just cellulite and this was an infection in the skin. The doctor assumed it was probably caused from Staph and wrote up some antibiotics and sent me on my way with the instructions that 'it may or may not clear it up depending on if we got meds for the right bacteria- so if it gets worse come back in'. Lovely- Thanks.

Luckily the meds worked but my arm still feels like its been punched multiple times and my finger is still swollen, while at least less purple.
My weekend of excited quilting turned quickly into resting on the couch and watching the boys play Destiny all weekend. Alas- the quilt will still be there ready and waiting once I'm feeling up to par again, but until then.. drowning my sorrows in massive amounts of water and watching Netflix with BG. Thank goodness for the crock pot!
Happy Monday All!

Lalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-65682269162701343142014-10-09T06:40:00.001-07:002014-10-09T06:40:05.408-07:00I'm a Quilter- Who Knew?!I'm Quilting.

If you had told me that I would enjoy quilting 15 years ago, I would have laughed in your face. (cuz isn't that what old people do?!) My mother is a quilter. She's self taught and she's down right amazing!
My first quilt project, I made a quilt for my best friend's 30th birthday. It was a big task but I was so proud I did it. The second was a quilt for Chugo. It was the first one I did completely on my own from start to finish, ok.. ok.. with the couple calls to my Mom for advice! (There, I admit it!)
Said quilt, is now worn out from love and multiple bus trips during marching band season. Then I took a looooong break from quilting. (Birth of the twins, moving to TX.. ya know, just to name a few distractions) Isn't it funny how it seems that certain hobbies are either all or nothing?!

Then I got pregnant and was determined to make a 'girly' quilt for BG. It turned out great, if I do say so myself. (and then another hiatus) Fast forward two years later and I'm back at it again.
I've been bitten by the bug. It truly amazes me to see bits of scraps sewn together to make a blanket. To make something that will be used and loved. Sigh. Its fabulous.

I received a Christmas quilt from my Mom a couple years ago. (we actually use it all year around- believe it or not) The idea struck me a couple weeks ago that it would be neat to have "holiday quilts' for all the holidays. So I set out on a mission. Halloween, Fall (because it could be used longer than say just a thanksgiving quilt), Spring (same reasoning as fall), and then whatever other holidays I decided I wanted to conjure up a quilt for. :)

I chose a pattern, went to the fabric store and got started! I'll post more as the process unfolds but for now.. here's a previews of the fabric!

I hear this often from friends and even strangers who 'work for a living'.
I never understood that term. I mean, yeah maybe I don't work outside of the home to make money, but i sure as heck work pretty dang hard inside the home. Its all about time management and priorities.

Apparently, it is thought that stay at home moms just have nothing but time on their hands. I mean after all, how hard is it to clean house, cook dinners and tend to the kids? (should I blow a gasket right here?!) So, I just wanted to clear up some misconceptions of 'my free time'. I have none.
I have 5 children, I run a business out of my home, I cook, clean, teach and chauffeur... free time is not something I have much of, if any at all. I never get a day off or a paid holiday. Heck the holidays, while fun for the rest of the family, always end up being even more work for myself. But I digress.

So my time..
Yeah. I wake up at 4 am everyday (even on the weekends) because that is the the only time I have to 'work' my business, craft or do anything I would like to get accomplished before I have to get kids up and running for the day (like say.. pay bills).

I don't need a pat on the back or a cookie, but I do wish that sometimes people would watch how they say things. I know that they are just wishing that they 'had more time' to do the things that they love too... but like I said, It's all about time management and prioritizing!

Its hard to believe that 7 years ago my miracle twins were born. I know that every year I go into the miracle that is monoamniotic monochorionic twins. And of course this year is no different.

*1 in 47 pregnancies will result in twins. Of those 1 in 250 will be
identical twins, of those 1% are monoamniotic monochorionic twins, of
those 1 in 3 "momo" pregnancies will survive. 25% of mono/mono
pregnancies are boys. *

See what I mean! Truly God's miracle! We celebrated family style, with their favorite- fondue, and as a twist, they decided they wanted to each decorate their own cakes. (I blame this on watching too many episodes of Cake Boss on netflix- I mean, how many other 7 year olds do you know that say they would like some drop lines on their cake- not many!)

Every year all the memories of the hospital stay come back to me. (almost haunt-like) Every year I cry, and can't believe that we all made it through such a stressful time. But mostly I thank God for blessing me with two amazingly wonderful little boys who fill me with excitement and wonder every day!
The last post was from then? YEESH...
Deep breath. What has happened since then? Well waaaaaaaay too much.
But, I'll give you a hint..
Yep, If you hadn't already guessed it from the changed title- We added a little lady into the mix! As a total surprise (and I mean like complete and utter surprise) we got pregnant with #5 and God blessed us with a daughter. Like all my children on the blog, they are nicknamed, and this little lady is Bubblegum. (BG for short.)

well else happened over the years, Oh yes, we moved across country and landed ourselves in Texas. The south sure has changed us all, but for the better. I have to say, I Love LOve LOVe LOVE the sunshine. (the heat, well not so much.) We rented a house, bought a house, sold a house, and even started a business! The kids are growing like weeds, and we are all happy!
I am looking forward to getting back into the blogging world, if anything, its cathartic to just sit after a long day and write. (even if no one reads it.. and thats fine with me too! haha)

So, a new adventure begins. I hope you enjoy the ride~ I know I sure will!
Done... D-O-N-E!

Now I just have to: get it all wrapped, shipped, tracked, and thank the stars above that it all arrives on time!

SIGH

Break out the Prosecco cuz Mama's gonna celebrate! (Ok so perhaps my celebration is a wee premature.. but hey.. we all need little incentives to keep going! WINK)

Until next time....Lalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-47701494267528120772009-12-07T16:20:00.000-08:002009-12-07T16:28:15.436-08:00Its a sad sad thing...Truly... I am lame. There is not even an excuse for it.

SEVEN months and no posts. (hrmph)

A lot of time has past. And while I would love to show you everything that has happened, I'm apparently *NOT* very good at keeping my word. (my word, as in saying that I will actually come on here and actually blog about the happenings of the fam.)

I DO keep my word, maybe I should state instead that I can't seem to keep my "cyber word"

So for all of you out there who have been wondering where I have been and giving me swift kicks in the butt... I'm here I promise, I'm just not here here apparently!

I won't even do my usual.. I will be good and keep up with posts cuz who knows if it will happen.

BUT I will say that my laptop went kaput and I had to reinstall everything onto a desktop and I found my way back here.

So while I continue to install numerous programs onto my computer I will think of something clever and wordy to post. Perhaps I should even change up the blog a bit with fresh new look?
(wow now I am really talking out my ass! But hey it sounds like a good plan in my head!)

Wish me luck... cuz as you've seen before time and time again... I obviously need some!

WINK!Lalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-68176217460699824262009-05-15T08:15:00.000-07:002009-05-15T08:47:54.247-07:00Feature Friday!Well our next feature would have to be the twins' baptism!

They were baptized on Feb 22,2009
It was a private baptism right after mass. I made the cake and I thought it turned out OK. (seeing as I was rushed because what mom isn't running around like a crazy woman on big days like these?)
As you can see we were slowly losing poor Bus. He posed for the picture and he was done. Literally. His day had been crazy and napping not at the normal times, as while I would love to tell you all the day was utterly and totally fabulous- I would be lying. So for posterity reasons I will note that Bus pitched the biggest fit that day that any of my children ever had. It continued for 1. 1/2 hrs! Needless to say he and I were both exhausted by days end. From that day on I realized the importance of keeping as close to our daily schedule as possible no matter how hard it is! *Wink

Thanks for reading!

Lalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-74083703799445272702009-05-10T14:19:00.000-07:002009-05-12T14:22:01.649-07:00Happy Mom's Day!
At the end of the day- upset sleepy boys, hysterical Mom, and of course a 10 yr old boy wielding a camera... sigh... you gotta love being caught in your crazy Mom moments!

Happy Mother's Day to You All!

Lalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-72844516352174752192009-04-17T11:06:00.000-07:002009-04-17T11:30:58.535-07:00Feature Friday! So its Friday! Hooray! And I thought to help me catch up on so much "back postings" that I *should* have done, I will start doing a feature story each Friday! (In the hopes that I will catch up somehow- now the only problem is where to begin?! *sigh)

So I think I will start with Scout Crossovers first seeing as I believe that was the first major event to happen since my *falling out* <--Ugh it sounds soooo horrible!

So now.. I bring you... Feature Friday: Scout Crossover!

(did you happen to notice that I started each paragraph with so? Haha.. I noticed too but instead of editing and taking it out- I thought I would leave it in, you know, so the future me could see my lack of skills! Wink)

Scouting has been a big thing in our family lately. With both Chugo and Kata in it its hard for it to NOT be a big thing. Chugo had just started scouts in May of 08. The crossover was in Feb. 09. Yes dates blah blah.. my point in telling you this timeframe is that within the 9mos since starting scouts he earned all 20 webelos activity badges and received the heavy shoulder award! I was so proud of him. He had so much catching up to do with the other boys and did it in no time!

For those of you who aren't familiar with the scouting world... Crossing over means leaving Cub Scouts and entering into Boy Scouts. They had a big ceremony called the Blue and Gold. After dinner and cake (yum!) They had the crossover ceremony and it was so wonderful to see Chugo entering into this new arena. He was so proud of himself that I had one of those, "Omg don't be a tard and cry" moments that we so often find ourselves in as Mothers.

With out further ado I give you Chugo... I dunno how many times I am going to have to promise to make time for this.. but here we go again... round two.. BING

I'm back!
I'd like to say for good, but well my track record isn't looking so hot. It has been quite some time since my last post and about a bazillion things have happened since then!

for example:

Chugo made his First Communion, crossed over to boy scouts and is now starting up baseball.
Kata got his tonsils out and is in scouts and also has started baseball
(baseball is seems keeps up busy almost every evening during the week and on the weekends too!)
Moose and Bus have hit the 18 mos milestone YAY! they were also baptized in Feb!

My parents came for the holidays and stayed through the winter- just having left a couple weeks ago! :( It was so wonderful to have all the extra hands around the house thats for sure!

AND... drum roll please... the super gates have been taken down and the twins have free range of the living room and dining room! The place has become somewhat of a large playroom I have to admit. I do try to clean it up umpteen times during the day but I swear as soon as I turn my back its a mess again! (I know you twin mommies will feel my pain on this one!) We have also had to hide the dining room chairs seeing as our wee monkeys have discovered climbing! I have never baby proofed a house as I did with these two boys! (It amazes me how many safety items are on the market these days- I never would have even guessed the uses of half of them- or even thought they were needed until we took down the gates... and now.. They are MUST HAVES! lol)

But really- its been wonderful. I love to see them growing and coming into their own little people! They are like day and night as far as personalities- which is great as far as helping us to tell them apart!

Well that is about all the time I have for the moment. I will attempt to catch up on each of the aboved mentioned events- Seeing as we have some great pictures of them all!
But until then... I VOW... yes VOW.. to get back on here. I think I need the support!
*WinkLalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-73197294708288027902009-01-26T16:14:00.000-08:002009-01-26T16:29:56.622-08:00Vampires, Werewolves & Shifters.. OH MY!I've fallen down the dark path.. Yes, sigh.. I never thought it would happen but it has, and I blame it all on Sara!! Wink

She kept on and on and on about these books. Twilight (*gasp* I know right!?). So I finally gave in and read them. I couldn't put them down. It was one right after the other until I came to book three and she had loaned it out to someone else! I ended up making my husband go find a copy for me somewhere. (He went to multiple stores and they were all out! ...talk about suck!) But now, thanks to both Christmas and my birthday I am the proud owner of the entire set!

So, what does one do after the Edward and Bella saga is over? Cry, mourn?! NO!! You find the next series of undead books to suck you! Luckily I had fallen for True Blood. It was a series that premiered on HBO this past year and as quirky as it was, I loved it.
While on a quest to the Library to find something good, I happened to stumble across the Sookie Stackhouse series, which.. YAY ME.. was the books that True Blood was based on!

So, 7 books later and waiting on the 8th to come into the library (-its on hold and I never ever imagined myself being one of those people that put a book on hold so as soon as the person checked it back in I could go get it! ....desperate housewife? or maybe just book nut!? I dunno.. but I've become that lady!)

I've happened upon a couple of other books that might peak that crazy undead interest but any other recommendations would be great! After all I am in this new "spoiling me with reading" phase! WinkLalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-23199330593321527822009-01-20T09:41:00.001-08:002009-01-20T09:56:03.979-08:00Life...Life gets hectic and life gets crazy. It throws you around and drags you by your hair (sometimes..)
It can be great or it can be boring. (I've yet to find it boring, but I'm still waiting!)

My point of this post (well yes, I AM getting that I promise! Wink) I've been busy. Well OK perhaps busy is a wee bit of an understatement, or well on some days I guess that could be more seen as an overstatement- but I think you catch my drift. The twins are mobile in a BIG way.

The following is a statement from my tiny twosome=
We run , we climb and we never seem to go in the same direction. We don't sleep through the night, we are up about every 1 and a half hours (sometimes Mommy gets lucky and gets two straight hours of sleep- but that's rare especially now that we are teething- yep FOUR teeth all at once- each of us!) We worry mommy with our small size and well lately the lady can't seem to cook anything that even remotely seems appealing to us. (We just don't understand why she thinks we can't live on baby cheese puffs and bananas alone?) We like to play with each other, although we just learned how to push and fight. Thank goodness we have big brothers to watch and take notes from! Life for us... its a breeze! (especially now that we know how to pitch a fit and throw ourselves onto the floor kicking and screaming!)

So I guess you can see now why my posts have been lacking in numbers. I can't believe it has been a month now since my last one! I would love to say that for posterity purposes I would go back and post about everything that happened over the holidays and into the new year- but well.. I just don't think I for one, have the time, and two I don't know if I can even remember that far back! What was that.. My name you asked? Gees, I'm not at all sure I can remember that either! Wink

Onto a new future, One where I don't put as much pressure on myself to get everything done in the day. One that lets me sit back and read a book, or slack off on my blog and not feel amazingly guilty that everyone else seems to be able to write a bazillion posts (that I find the time to read by the way) and I write none. There is 24 hours in a day, somewhere in that time-frame has to be some time for me? I guess I just have to find where it is! SMILE

So cheers to the day and I'm raising my martini glass full of fabulous lemondrop goodness to you all- I welcome myself back to the blogging world- and here's to hoping I can find my 'me' time and stick with it!!Lalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-83722038100671504172008-12-17T10:11:00.000-08:002008-12-17T10:17:39.362-08:00Its Beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!S~N~O~W~

In Oregon! Its heavenly I have to say. Sigh.. I miss the winter snows of Montana, but it seems that this year it has come to visit us here! We got a couple inches the other day and now we are getting dumped on again- and the forecast says yet another storm is headed our way on Sunday! Needless to say this week has been a snow week for the kids- well yes it is only wednesday but I'm fairly positive they will be calling the nest two days as well! Looks like my boys will get a 3 week Xmas vacation instead of two! Wink

So on a belated note- I;ve been a slacker. I have had tons to blog about but by the end of the day it seems sleep has been more important! The holidays have not only brought stress and fatigue- as per usual they've brought all the yummy germs along with it! (I even got strep.. UGH!) So in my attempt to keep those pesky buggers at bay- I have now implemented the "Sanitize or I sterilize you rule!" I'm still working on that front door decontamination room.. although somehow I don't think it will be welcomed open armed by the public! HA HA

I will... attempt to do my best at keeping up with all the news as this year slowly winds down... as always.. Thanks for your patience! *cheers*Lalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-16274854910942711952008-11-21T09:28:00.000-08:002008-11-21T10:59:00.458-08:00~From Trash To Treasure~I am addicted.

Well, lets say I have a new obsession. Its treasure hunting at the Goodwill Outlet. Did you know they even had those? Its FABULOUS with a capitol F. (no.... seriously!!)

The first time I went I admit I was taken back, I walked in with my sons and noticed there was quite a few people with not only gloves, but surgical face masks. (I just about walked out.)
However, I'm not one to be frightened off that easily, so I took my time and walked around a bit before I dove in.

Dove in? Yep... Diving in to a table that is. The Outlet is filled with these extremely long table bins. A table bin?!- I guess you would describe it like the old cafeteria tables in elementary school, only instead of a table top its one huge long bin. The bins are random. (By random I mean they don't sort anything out other than shoes, books and clothes. everything else goes into catch all bins.)

I'm a bargain hunter. I dunno if I would call myself a diver, but I found my way.

So this last trip I took I made out like quite the bargain bandit! I've never been one to be huge into brand names, I just liked clothes that fit me nice and looked good and didn't break my pocketbook. Since finding this Diamond in the rough, I've become a brand name snob! (teehee)
Fendi, Banana Republic, Gap, Armani,BCBG, DKNY, Ralph Lauren, only to name a few!

I even found an adorable REI vest for one the of the twins and some North Face sweats for my oldest. (which he hasn't even taken off the past couple days!)

Long story short (I know too late right!) I brought home my loot and started sorting. Some of the clothing had tags on it from the regular goodwill stores.
This gave me an idea, a wonderful money saving show-my-husband-how-much-I-saved idea! I counted the items I purchased (which mind you was THREE huge garbage bags full) and then added up the total of each of the items that had tags and took that total to the Hub.

Now the Outlet charges you by weight.
Can you believe that?
AND its cheap!
Like 1.69 a pound for up to the first 10 lbs then the price gets cheaper for the more weight you have! So its a bonus to find more and save more! Wink

My totals were:

62 items (in the three bags)
Of those 62 items- 15 had price tags
Total of price tags: $90.85
How much I paid for my loot: $27.25
A Savings of: $63.60
~And that's just the total for the items that HAD tags! AMAZING!

Like I said, I am obsessed. Its a wonderful place, its a treasure hunt every time. Why go to a store and window shop for stuff I know I don't have the money for when I could go here and find other people's trash that I can make my treasures!
(and the best part- if the kids destroy it I don't feel so bad as I didn't pay an arm and a leg for it!)

Thank you Goodwill for your Outlet stores! Cheers!Lalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-90213544001767389062008-11-18T11:03:00.000-08:002008-11-20T11:11:01.865-08:00SHOTS!Flu season is yet upon us again... UGH
We have never taken part in the whole flu shot event. I have always believed that you would get sick from the shot, I mean after all practically every story I had ever heard about someone getting horrible sick had been after they had gotten the shot.
Our fabulous in home nurse assured me that you can't get sick from the shot. (possibly the new flu mist as it is live virus, but not the shot.. its dead. wink)
I agreed, after she told me how badly the flu could affect the twins if they did in fact get it. My kids are my everything, and the idea that one of them would end up back in the hospital was not an option for me. After a wee but of persuasion, the hub agreed too.
(and besides my good friend's family all got them and no one got sick-and they even got the mist!)

So.. we got the shot. It was free and she even did it in the comfort of my own home.
As a Mom, especially a scrapbooking Mom, I felt it only necessary to capture the moment. (granted not ME getting it done, just the boys! teehee)

And now the proof.. that we are in fact Flu immunized----

Lalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-13983708404035865432008-11-11T10:47:00.000-08:002008-11-20T11:03:06.432-08:00HAPPY BIRTHDAY WELLA!
My mother in law is an amazing woman.
Its not often that a woman can say that she truly likes her husband's Mom. (are you with me here girls?) From the very moment I met her she had welcomed me with open arms. I have known her since I was 15 years old. I recall the first time I met her, she had her long curly hair down to her shoulders and came into the room doing spins in her car wash dress. (as she called it because the dress had long strips cut almost fringe like that twirled out when she spun) She was going out on a date with a tall man in a cowboy hat. (but he wasn't much for me to remember)
She was, and is now still so full of life. She would do anything for you and always remembers the dates of everyone who had ever had a birthday, anniversary, or even their death. She is a woman of God and some days I truly believe that she has a phone line directly up to the big Man himself. If ever a prayer was needed, she is the woman to call and pray with.
She has always excepted me for who I am, even in my dark days-and I thank her for that.
We have been so blessed to have her in our lives.. so today.. Its her day..

Happy Birthday Mama-Lupita-Wella-Sticker-Babes..and every other name you go by!
When God made you.. he truly did break the mold! My brother, who resides in Seattle, comes over when he can get away from school and work to spend it with us. (Seeing as he works in retail and we all know how big the shopping days right around Thanksgiving are.)
We had a wonderfully Big Turkey bird and all the fixing- most of which I only make once a year!
With the old we did have some new, in the form of a pumpkin cheesecake. ( I was informed only this year that my hub dislikes pumpkin pie.) It turned out great and I was sooo happy to get off my feet and enjoy the meal!
As the holidays get closer I start to reminisce about my childhood and all the wonderful memories I had around the holidays. I KNOW that sometimes I go above and beyond what is necessary for my kids but I just want them to sit back when they are my age and remember all the wonderful times we shared together. To me, its worth it. All the stress and all the Holiday Hub bub fades when I see my sons smiling with holiday glee! (but this all in itself is a whole other post... we'll get to it soon enough! While he never complained about a sore throat, never even had a fever.. we didn't know what was wrong at all. We were shopping when he broke out and he told me in the dressing room how he was going to leave his jacket on so that people wouldn't think he was a freak. I could have cried :(
-The first Dr. we saw told us it was just an Eczema break out. But me, as Mom, knew this couldn't be true as he had Never had one like this before. (by the way his legs were even worse!!)
-The 2nd Dr. (at the Urgent Care- which I think they should rename Slow Care!) said she had no idea what was wrong with him. Each area of his body seemed to have a different look and she just couldn't seem to pinpoint it. She then told us to try to get in with our regular Dr. in the morning or go to the ER.
-The 3rd and Final Dr. finally tells us it is a Strep rash and the most horrible one she had ever seen! Lots of strong meds and 10 days later we are looking better. Granted He still has a rash on his arms and legs which won't seem to go away but I have a call in for a referral to a Dermatologist. Lets hope we can get to the bottom of this!
(I have done some medical research of my own, I mean come on this IS the digital age and all- But alas I am no doctor so I will get the referral and hopefully they will be able to tell us what I think I may have concluded on my own!) <--I'll keep ya posted!Lalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17745099513436767047noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544011566416953166.post-40038990667787159862008-11-02T12:08:00.000-08:002008-11-20T10:15:58.446-08:00Oh when the Saints...This year was our first year participating in the Saints Alive! Parade as Church. The boys had to come up with a Saint they wanted to be and then I got the pleasure of trying to figure out just exactly how I was going to make it work. As per usual, myself, the last minute Queen, whipped up both costumes the night prior to said event. I think they came out alright.. but no worries I won't break my arm off patting myself on the back or anything! *wink

Chugo went as St. Patrick

Kata went as Noah

The boys had a really good time.
